Olden Era Builds Temple Inquisitor Guide
Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era Race: Temple Inquisitor Rush

Inquisitor Rush Build

This Temple plan is built around reaching Threshold Basilica before the Angel route, recruiting Inquisitors as the Week 2 power spike, then choosing Excommunicators for damage or Mother Superior upgrades for longer fights.

Build Priorities

Week one
1 Solve Gems First

Threshold Basilica asks for 10 Gems after Sundrop Chapel. Scout Gems early, take Gold from chests when trading is needed, and build Marketplace if the map is dry.

2 Basilica Before Angels

The Angel path is stronger later but much heavier. This build wins by putting Tier 6 bodies into the army before opponents expect them.

3 Preserve the Stack

Inquisitors are expensive and low-growth. Avoid trades that lose them unless the fight opens a town, mine cluster, or major treasure zone.

Building Order

Inquisitor route
Day 1
Griffin Rookery.

Griffins give reach and blocking while your early army clears the resources needed for the Basilica chain.

Days 2-3
Solar Temple II, then Solar Temple III.

Take the economy path before the rare-resource crunch. This keeps the rush from becoming a dead town with no recruitment money.

Day 4
Sundrop Chapel.

This unlocks the Basilica line. From here, every pickup should be judged by whether it helps you hit 10 Gems and 10 Ore.

Days 5-6
Threshold Basilica, with Marketplace as the fallback.

If you already have the Gems, build Basilica immediately. If not, build Marketplace, trade carefully, then complete Basilica the next day.

Week 2
Recruit Inquisitors first; upgrade only when affordable.

Threshold Basilica II unlocks Mother Superior and Excommunicator upgrades, but it needs more Gems and Dust. Do not delay base Inquisitor recruitment just to chase upgrades.

Combat Script

With Inquisitors
  1. Let Crossbowmen soften fast threats while Griffins and Swordsmen control lanes. The Inquisitor stack should not eat the first retaliation unless it wins the fight.
  2. Use Infuse Armor before committing if the stack needs extra Defense and Speed to reach a valuable target or survive the counterpunch.
  3. Look for Celestial Flail angles. Hitting the target plus adjacent enemies is the reason this build can clear dense neutral stacks quickly.
  4. After upgrading, pick the role: Excommunicators delete clustered buffs and push damage; Mother Superior upgrades soak longer fights and generate Focus when damaged.

Inquisitor Line

Upgrade choice
Inquisitor

Base Tier 6 body with Unyielding, Infuse Armor, and Celestial Flail. Recruit these early and let the stack grow before buying luxury tech.

Excommunicator

The aggressive upgrade. Higher Attack, wider damage, better Speed, and Swift Penance make it the default map-clearing choice.

Mother Superior

The stable upgrade. More Health and Defense plus Focus generation makes it better when you expect the stack to take repeated hits.

Support Core

Crossbowmen provide safe damage, Griffins create flail angles, and Swordsmen absorb the cheap hits your Inquisitors should avoid.
